Lola Lola Lola

Well, Miss Lola is finally back.  Not here at my house, but at the Animal Welfare Society of Kennebunk, ME.  Her family kept her an extra week, but eventually came to terms with the fact that they couldn't afford to keep her any longer.  She is currently up for adoption here.

In the past year she has gained a little bit of weight, though not enough to look chubby, and has mastered a new skill; the skill of jumping an 8 foot fence without even touching it.  While impressive, it doesn't seem like a real selling point to potential adopters.  It also makes me concerned (once again) about fostering her, as we have a wimpy 4 foot wire fence.

What can I say? I'm an athlete.

As far as fostering Lola, it is a wait and see kind of deal.  If I foster her, it will mean a lot of crate time and tension in the house.  She will be the first foster with Parker and Skye as permanent members of the family, and she isn't exactly an ideal dog to test that scenario.  More importantly, I live 40 minutes from the shelter, and unless someone in this area falls in love with her, she won't be exposed to potential adopters.  She only went up for adoption on Monday, so I'm planning to wait another week and see where we stand.  Hopefully someone will see her and want her, and hopefully she won't go kennel crazy too soon.

I know I'm not doing a great job of selling Lola, so I added this video I took of her back in the day.  I think her good qualities will speak for themselves.  FYI, it was windy at the beach, so having the sound off may be beneficial.  Also I sound like an idiot.  Enjoy!

  2. Lola is a beatiful dog, I'm hoping that the right family comes along for her. Maybe there is another foster closer to the shelter that would be able to help too? It doesn't suprise me that she can jump an 8 foot fence, we had a pittie at the shelter that kept getting out of his kennel, he literally was jumping out! It is unblelievable how high they can jump, even from a standing position! He got adopted though, so I know there's hope for beautiful Lola!
