Season of Generosity

Well, I'm home.  As usual, Parker didn't eat much or sleep much and Skye didn't realize I had left.  On Friday Parker and Skye received some exciting mail, but I only had a little time to snap some pictures before heading out.

I love seeing my dogs' names on a package:

H.L. Whitingham is an incredible company.  A few weeks back, I won a giveaway from Pet Blogs United for one of their leashes and collars (on my birthday!).  Pretty cool, right?

Well, when Oskar and Pam passed on Parker's info to Heather of H.L.W. she took a look at this little blog of mine.  She noticed that Parker is kind enough to share his living space with a couple of block heads.  She sent me an e-mail that said:

Parker,

We're really excited about you winning the holiday tartan collar and lead set!
We're also excited to see that Jenny has a HUGE heart (we visited her blog).
Because we adore kind-hearted dog folks we'd also like to send Sinatra and Skye
a collar too.  We have just the right style for each of them. That way we can
get single and group photo and put up on our website with their stories see www.hlwhitingham.com/dogstories.aspx

Have Jenny send me an email with Sinatra and Skye's neck sizes and we'll send out one
holiday package for all.

PS Parker you are wicked cute

Well, I just about jumped out of my skin!  So when our package arrived on Friday, I couldn't wait to show the pups their goodies!  Of course, Sinatra was already in his new home, so he will have to wait until I visit him tomorrow to show him the new bling.

So these aren't all for me?

I get a treat for this, right?

I am completely blown away by the quality of these collars- not only are they beautiful and well made, but they're comfy too!  Skye's neck is easily irritated by her collars, but this one is thick and cushioned.  I'd say they are the whole package- all that and a bag of chips, as my friend would say.

I sense a Christmas Card on its way...

Talk about generous, right?  Well, hold on to your seats, cause this ride ain't over yet!  In my excitement, I told Pam and Oskar that now I'd have to get new ID tags for the pups for Christmas (which I'll admit is an addiction of mine anyway) and she goes and does this:

Well guess what, Jenny?  I contacted my friend Cate from BlanketID.com and she would like to send you 3 Blanket ID tags for the dog's new collars!

Blanket ID tags also seem to be the whole package.  They come in a variety of fun patterns, are clearly engraved, include a registration with their website to help a lost pet get home, and are long lasting.  I was once again humbled by this stranger's generosity.

In a sense, I have known about this type of selfless generosity in animal welfare since I began working at the Animal Welfare Society.  But when I joined the blogging community, I was a little blown away.  Meeting people who dedicate their lives to helping pets complete their journey to their forever homes with such devotion that there is no hesitation- it is impossible not to be affected.  I often wish I had my own place already so that fostering could be a frequent activity, so that I could really develop roots in the local rescue organizations.

Like many of us, I do what I can when I can.  There is such a need for help in the rescue community, so many faces of dogs that may never get that help.  I'm just happy to say that I know one more face that never has to worry about tomorrow.

So thank you Pam, Heather, and Cate.  I am so grateful, it is hard to put into words.
