A Misfit Convention and Life Lesson

I've always taken it as a point of pride that I own a misfit pair of dogs.  I like that Parker and Skye are opposites, and are noticed more because of it.  Somehow I forgot that nearly all of my coworkers also have a couple of misfits, and their pairs of dogs are more extremely different than my own. Yesterday I met with A and E, and we brought all our dogs swimming at the river. 

E owns a Belgian Malinois, Guinness, and a Chihuahua, Jacoby.  Guinness loves to charge into the water for a ball, and even Jacoby will swim around like a little otter.

A owns an older Rat Terrier, Corky, and a rather tubby chow mix, Bella, who uses her extra buoyancy to float around and stay cool.

 

Not to be outdone, Skye (for the first time ever!) chose to leave the shallow end and actually swim.  That life lesson I mentioned?  Pit bulls do not float.  Swimming wasn't a leisurely activity that required minimal effort for little Skye.  She really had to paddle to keep her head up, and there was a time or two that she looked like she was going to stop.  Luckily, after about 4 tosses of the ball she was exhausted- but she did it!

Parker, however, stood firm in his belief that if your beard is getting wet, it's time to go back to shore.

A, E, and I thought about getting the dogs together for a group picture, but decided it was a task better left to another day.  The best I could do was this:

Bella was too busy instilling fear into the local squirrel population, so she was unable to join the group...
