Sinatra is Saved!

Apparently good looks and a lot of phone calls really does pay off, because our handsome boy Sinatra is off the hook for his quarantine!!!

That's right- off the hook, in the clear, and free as a bird.  An owner contacted the ACO just a few days ago to say that the dog was his, but he had only recently got him from someone online.  He was told the rabies is up to date, but has no proof, and he doesn't want the dog.  The dog is too much for him to handle, and he didn't realize it would be so much work.  Wah, cry me a river.

Even better?  The guy lives across the border into New Hampshire, where laws are only suggestions to begin with, and rabies isn't a scary word.  His quarantine transfers to the state of ownership, and in the event of a surrendered dog (aka this event) then a new owner can come forward to continue the quarantine from their home.

Translation?  Sinatra can go into foster care!  There is no 6 month quarantine in this fine state, and his restrictions will be minimal.  I will be taking precautions for 2 months (the most likely period he would show symptoms) then be making long term arrangements for him.  So far his interactions with Parker and Skye have been fine and full of dumb excitement.  In fact, this guy is the king of dumb excitement.  I'll be posting more on his transition into our home as time goes on, and it's looking like Saturday is the big move in day.

To celebrate this incredible turn of events, please laugh with relief and pure joy at his insane excitement at being outside!  The spinning happened a few times when the long line rubbed his back legs, and I think this was his solution for being tangled.  Fail #1.

I also discovered that Sinatra knows sit, down, and paw.  Unfortunately, his reaction toward the word 'stay' will need some improvement.  I thought this might have been a fluke, but he did this same type of behavior 3 times at the word stay.  I've got my work cut out for me! Fail #2:

HOWEVER!  If you were thinking about sending in a small donation for Sinatra, please keep considering!  He still needs to be neutered *ASAP* and be vaccinated.  A small rescue is donating his food, and I have all the supplies I'll need on the toy/bed front (until they are destroyed that is).  I bought him an Easy Walk Harness, a collar, and an ID tag, so we're covered there.

We're still about $100 short for the medical stuff, so I'd love the extra help!  Planning to spend $10 at Starbucks this week?  Think you can go cold turkey for a few days and send that money in instead?  If not, can you pass it on that we're close, but not quite there?  It'll be a huge relief, and I'll send you all slobbery pit bull kisses via this blog for as long as you want as payback.

Anyway, thanks for all the good doggie vibes, friends!  Sinatra is heading toward a bright future and a normal(ish) life here in the land of Pit Bulls and Patience!
